Marc F. Burr
Funeral Director / Owner
For Marc F. Burr, funeral service has always been more than a profession. As a sixth-generation funeral director, Marc grew up with an appreciation for the importance of compassion, dignity, and caring for others during life's most difficult moments. From an early age, he knew he wanted to continue his family's tradition of serving others, while building a legacy of his own.
A lifelong resident of Chardon, Ohio, Marc graduated from Chardon High School, where he was actively involved in athletics and the arts. He played football, performed in the symphonic and jazz bands, and was an integral part of the school's theater department. These experiences helped shape his appreciation for teamwork, creativity, and the importance of connecting with people.
Following graduation, Marc attended Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, where he played collegiate football as a starting offensive tackle and later center for the Gators. He also worked as a student technician in the college's theater department, ultimately earning his degree in Theater Production.
Marc continued his education at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, where he distinguished himself by receiving the Dodge Award for exemplary skill and ability in embalming and restorative art. His education, attention to detail, and commitment to his profession continue to influence the care he provides to every family he serves.
Deep Roots in the Community
For Marc, serving families extends far beyond the walls of the funeral home. Having spent his life in Chardon and the surrounding communities, he believes strongly in giving back to the places and people who have helped shape his life.
Marc is proud to serve as a board member and emcee of the Geauga County Maple Festival, one of Chardon's most cherished community traditions. His involvement with the festival reflects his love for his hometown, his appreciation for its history, and his commitment to preserving the traditions that bring generations of families together.
Over the years, Marc has also been actively involved in numerous civic, fraternal, and community organizations, including the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club, where he served as President from 2015 to 2016, and the Painesville Rotary Club. His involvement has also included Village Lodge #274 F&AM, the Madison Sons of the American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112, the Chardon VFW Auxiliary, and Geauga Eagles Aerie #2261.
One of Marc's greatest passions outside of funeral service is coaching and mentoring young athletes. After spending five years coaching football in area schools, Marc returned to the sidelines in 2026 as a coach for the Chardon Middle School seventh-grade football team, where his oldest son, Warner, played. For Marc, the opportunity to coach at the school system where he once played football himself, while sharing the experience with his son, has been especially meaningful.
Marc also enjoys coaching both of his sons, Warner and Franklin, in CYO basketball through St. Mary Parish in Chardon and baseball through Chardon Recreation Baseball. Whether on the football field, basketball court, or baseball diamond, he values the opportunity to teach teamwork, sportsmanship, dedication, and respect while helping young athletes develop confidence both on and off the field.
For Marc, these experiences represent more than coaching. They are opportunities to give back to the community that helped shape him, build lasting relationships with local families, and create memories with his own children.
Family Comes First
Of all the roles Marc has held throughout his life, none is more important to him than being a husband and father.
Marc and his wife, Ashley, were married on November 5, 2011, and make their home in Chardon with their two sons, Warner Patrick and Franklin Joseph, affectionately known as Franky.
Family, faith, and community remain central to their lives. Marc has maintained connections with Pilgrim Christian Church and St. Mary Parish in Chardon, where he and his family have been involved.
When he isn't serving families or coaching his sons' teams, Marc enjoys woodworking, woodturning, making handcrafted pens, winemaking, and spending time with family and friends. He also has a longtime interest in automobiles and enjoys participating in various car clubs.

Ashley graduated Summa Cum Laude from Youngstown State University in 2003 with a BSBA in Marketing Management. Upon graduation she began working for Matthews International as a Funeral Service Consultant and remained there for 11 years. In 2014 Ashley became a Regional Sales Director for Columbian Financial Group working alongside her father, Jerry. She is a licensed Life and Health insurance agent in Ohio. She married Marc F. Burr in 2011 and they reside in Chardon with their 2 sons, Warner and Franklin. The Burrs are parishioners of St. Mary Parish in Chardon where Warner is attending his first year of preschool.

Ashley graduated Summa Cum Laude from Youngstown State University in 2003 with a BSBA in Marketing Management. Upon graduation she began working for Matthews International as a Funeral Service Consultant and remained there for 11 years. In 2014 Ashley became a Regional Sales Director for Columbian Financial Group working alongside her father, Jerry. She is a licensed Life and Health insurance agent in Ohio. She married Marc F. Burr in 2011 and they reside in Chardon with their 2 sons, Warner and Franklin. The Burrs are parishioners of St. Mary Parish in Chardon where Warner is attending his first year of preschool.
Warner Patrick Burr

Warner is the oldest son of Ashley and Marc F. Burr. He attends St. Mary Catholic School in Chardon and enjoys helping his father at the funeral home, playing flag football, baseball and basketball. He started playing tackle football in 2026 with the Chardon Middle School 7th grade team.

Franky is the youngest son of Ashley and Marc F. Burr. He attends St. Mary Catholic School in Chardon. He loves playing baseball, flag football and basketball. He is enjoying learning to sail at Mentor Harbor Yacht Club.

Gerald Warne
Funeral Director
Gerald "Jerry" has had a career in funeral service spanning 47 years. He has a BSBA in Business Administration from Malone College. In 1970, he graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. After serving 2 years in the United States Army, Jerry returned to Canton, OH, where he began working in a funeral home, where he remained for 9 years. He then became a Territory Manager with Batesville Casket Co. for 18 years. In 1996, Jerry joined Columbian Financial Group as a Regional Sales Director. He is now semi-retired and remains on as a Consultant. He is a licensed Life and Health Insurance agent for Ohio & Pennsylvania. He also holds the designation as a Certified Preplanning Consultant, CPC. Jerry is a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the American Legion. He looks forward to working with his son-in-law, Marc. When he isn’t working, he loves to spend as much time as possible with his grandsons, Warner and Franklin. He says being Pap Pap is the best job he’s ever had!

Vivian Violet Burr
Therapy Dog in Training
Vivian was born April 4, 2025, in Parkman and entered the Burr Family on June 1, 2025. She has brought so much joy to our family and is slowly being familiarized with the various funeral homes and with various people. She will make a great addition to the staff here at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes. In the summer of 2026, Vivian started her training to become a therapy dog. She currently enjoys coming to the funeral homes with Marc and greeting, kissing and loving as many people as possible.
