Van Alan Ruple, age 73 of Chardon passed away on April 27, 2019 at his home. Van was born on May 31, 1945 in Chardon to Richard and Helen (nee: Carlson) Ruple. He was a lifelong area resident. Van proudly served in the US Navy, after which he married Trudy Thomas on Oct 21, 1973 in California.
Van retired from route sales at Entenmann's about 10 years ago. He is survived by his loving wife Trudy Ruple of Chardon; son Perry (Jennifer) and cherished grandson Perry Joseph Ruple of Russell Township; brother Richard (Deanna) Ruple of Orangeville, Canada and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dorothy Wedge and Pearl Valvoda.
Van was dependable, devoted to his family and generous. He was one of the hardest working men you could ever meet. Van ensured to instill these wonderful qualities in his son. We are certain these traits will be passed along to his grandson, whom absolutely adored him.
A celebration of Van’s life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 4-8PM at The VFW Post 6519. 752 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024. All are welcome.
