Robert Emmett “Bob” Conroy, Sr. age 81 of Chardon passed away Aug. 15, 2023, at UH Geauga Medical Center. Born on June 8, 1942, in Cleveland to Harry and Carmella (nee: Sorace) Conroy, he had been a lifelong area resident. Bob married Susan (nee: Reminder) Clary on March 16, 1991. He was a Pipefitter with Local 120 in Cleveland. Survivors include his wife Suzy of Chardon; sons Robert (Elizabeth) Conroy of Chardon and Sean Conroy of Fairport Harbor; sons Ryan (Melanie) Clary of Gainesville, FL, Adam Clary of Concord & Eric (Christina) Clary of Gainesville, FL; 5 grandchildren and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Conroy. Robert served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1966, during the Vietnam War, where he graduated amongst the first ever classes of the Marine Security Guard School. He was a proud veteran and patriot who served his country with honor. Robert loved athletics and was an avid football fan. He spent many seasons coaching young athletes in football and wrestling at various institutions. Robert enjoyed the arts, such as poetry, painting, and musical theater. He was a passionate chess player, and in his later years he enjoyed trips to the casino. Most of all, Robert was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Uncle. He worked hard to provide for his loved ones and will always be remembered as a man who put his family first. A memorial service will be at 12:30pm Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes (located inside DeJohn Funeral Homes, formerly Ritondaro) 126 South Street, Chardon, OH 44024 with a military service to follow.
