Polly J. Cole, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Montville, OH, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 27, 1944, in Chardon, OH, Polly lived a life rich with purpose, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to family.
With great care and devotion, Polly dedicated her career as an x-ray technician at Geauga Hospital, where her skill and compassion touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Polly was not just a professional; she was a beacon of warmth in a world that often seemed cold. Her artistry transcended the realm of her profession, manifesting in the beautiful quilts she stitched as a member of Geauga Quilters. Each creation was a reflection of her generosity and her deep-seated desire to connect with others through her craft.
Family was the heart of Polly's existence. She was the devoted wife of the late Dr. Thomas B. Cole, with whom she shared many cherished years of marriage. Together, they created a loving and supportive family, always filled with laughter. Polly's love knew no bounds, extending to her children—Tom (Joyce) Cole of Claridon Township, Dan (Jeannette) Cole of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Sam (Lynn) Cole of Claridon Township. Her legacy also lives on through her nine grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply, celebrating their milestones and encouraging their passions, no matter how big or small.
A gifted photographer and videographer, Polly captured the world around her with a creative lens that saw the beauty in wildlife, landscapes, and the everyday moments that many often overlook. Her photographs and videos became treasured keepsakes that told the story of her family and the wonders of nature, preserving memories that will last for generations to come.
Polly is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Elnora (nee: Spencer) Zepp, her sister Gretchen Rand, and her grandsons Ronan and Dutch Cole. Their memories will forever remain a part of her vibrant spirit.
Polly’s memory will live on in the quilts she stitched, the photographs she captured, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Though she may be gone, the warmth of her love, the strength of her encouragement, and the beauty of her artistry will forever brighten the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4pm on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes of Painesville.
