Polly J. Cole (nee: Zepp), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Montville, Ohio, at the age of 80. Born on December 27, 1944, in the quaint town of Chardon, Ohio, Polly's life was a tapestry of love, compassion, and resilience, woven through the decades with her indomitable spirit.
Polly was a devoted mother to her three cherished sons: Tom (Joyce) Cole of Claridon Township, Dan (Jeanette) Cole of Reynoldsburg, and Sam (Lynn) Cole of Claridon Township. Through her nurturing ways and strength of character, Polly instilled values in her children that will resonate through generations. Her endless love created a warm and welcoming home, where laughter and kindness flourished.
As a grandmother, Polly took immense pride in her grandchildren, showering them with affection, wisdom, and unforgettable memories. She leaves behind nine grandchildren who were the delight of her later years, bringing joy and fulfillment to her life.
Polly cherished her family ties, not just as a devoted matriarch but also as a loving sister to her brother, Norman Zepp. Their bond was a source of comfort and strength, a testament to Polly’s caring nature and deep roots in her family history.
While Polly’s passing leaves a profound void, she was preceded in death by her loving parents, Norman and Elnora (nee: Spencer) Zepp, whose legacy she carried with grace. She is also reunited in spirit with her dear sister Gretchen Rand and her two grandchildren, Ronan and Dutch Cole, who she held close to her heart.
Polly’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering love for her family and friends, her generous spirit, and her enduring faith. As we gather to celebrate a life well-lived, we remember Polly not just for her absence, but for the countless moments of joy she brought into our lives—of shared laughter, teachings filled with love, and an inspiring example of kindness.
In our hearts, Polly will always remain—a guiding light, a gentle soul, and a source of everlasting love. Her memory will continue to illuminate our paths, as we honor her legacy through the bonds she forged and the love she so freely gave.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be determined at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes, 1009 Mentor Ave, Painesville, OH 44077. A private family burial will take place.
