Olavi I. Liukkonen, age 83, of Perry passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 2, 2017. He was born in Toronto, Canada on April 7, 1934 to Hilma (Raaska) and Paavo Liukkonen Who migrated from Finland. Olavi was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Painesville, One of the first members of the Finnish Heritage Museum in Fairport Harbor. He was a talented local artist painting landscapes and rural scenes and enjoyed wood carving. He enjoyed fishing in Canada and loved to cook. In his youth he was a butcher working with his parents At the Suomi Butcher and Grocer in Canada. He is survived by his loving wife Jean (Muir) Son David (Tamra) Liukkonen of Mentor, Daughter Dianne (Bruce) Irwin of Madison, Virginia. Step Daughters, Jane (Joe) Tomchak of Willowick and Katie (Brian) Hope of Seattle Washington. Grand children Christopher and Troy Liukkonen, Chelsea Holmes, Megan Irwin, Claire Tomchak, Ian and Calum Hope Numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Aili. Private funeral services were held. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Potti Funeral Homes 1009 Mentor Ave. Painesville handled the arrangements.
