Kauno E. Kallio age 84, passed away July 6, 2015 at Tri-Point Medical Center. He was born on April 6, 1931 in Kalvia, Finland. Mr. Kallio was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Fairport Harbor, Finnish Heritage Museum and Nordic Ski Club and was an avid cross country skier, winning many championship competitions in Vail and Big Sky in Montana. Kauno loved to fish in Chautauqua Lake and Lake Erie, he was also a former member of Fairport Harbor Yacht Club. He was proud of his two homes he built in Fairport Harbor. Mr. Kallio retired from Classic Chevrolet where he was a body and fender repairman. He was always willing to help his family with home repair projects and fixing everyone's car. Kauno is survived by his wife Hilja (Kallinki) whom he married June 14, 1952 Daughters Eila (Theodore) Kallay, Eva (Kenneth) Wayner both of Painesville, Grandchildren Adam (Corie) Kallay, Bryan (Cassi) Kallay, Jenny (Scott) Cavell, and Matthew Wayner, Great Grandchildren Scott Jr., Joseph, Sofia, Roman, Lincoln, Colin, Cecelia, Brother Heikki (Dorothy) Kallio of Painesville, Sister Agnes Reho of Fairport Harbor. Preceded in death by his parents Aili and EEmil Kallio. Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church 504 Eagle Street Fairport Harbor, Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday July 9, 2015 at the church with Calling hours held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Potti Funeral Homes 538 Fifth Street Fairport Harbor are handling the arrangements.
