Kathryn Eileen Knauf (neé Frew) born May 5th, 1943, to Merle and Mary (Jones) Frew, passed away peacefully January 17th, 2025 at Hillcrest Hospital. She fought courageously in a battle with illness that progressed rapidly. She was surrounded by love and care from family and friends in her final days.
Kathryn had a beautiful childhood on Paw Paw Lake in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Alongside her parents and three sisters, Karen, Linda, and Leslie. She pursued her education at Ohio University and John Carroll University, which prepared her for a fulfilling career as a 5th-grade teacher. Her dedication to education left a lasting impact on the many young lives she touched.
A talented painter, avid collector and gardener. Kathy found joy in creating beauty through her art and curating meaningful treasures. She cherished preserving memories through journaling and meticulously keeping photo albums, ensuring that special moments were never forgotten. Her warmth shone brightly in her role as a homemaker, where she cultivated a loving environment for her family.
Kathryn is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Paul Knauf; her sons, Brad and Doug Knauf; her daughters-in-law, Megan and Sandy; and her beloved grandchildren: Riley, Gabrielle, Charlotte, Luke, and Anna. Her family was the center of her world, and she took pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Kathryn’s life was one of love, creativity, and devotion to those she held dear. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May her legacy bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
