Jonathan S. Swope, age 64 of Conneaut & Madison passed away Aug. 14, 2020 at his home after fighting his battle with cancer. Born Nov. 23, 1955 in Euclid, he had been a lifelong area resident. Jay worked as a CNC operator at General Aluminum and attended Cherry Valley Church of the Nazarene. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. In 1976 he came home from the Army and married the love of his life. Together they raised four children in Madison, Ohio. He was a very hard-working husband and father, doing whatever he needed to do to provide for his family. Around 2005 they moved to Conneaut Ohio. He worked at general aluminum for many years. Jay enjoyed spending time with loved ones especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching the sunset with his wife at the beach. Upon the passing of his wife and youngest son, he dedicated his heart back to the Lord and found his church home at the Cherry Valley Church of the Nazarene in Andover Ohio. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. he touched the lives of many throughout his life. Jay was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, a dedicated and caring brother, and loved all his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He is survived by daughter: Carrie Swope; sons: Jay (Audrey) Swope, Ray (Jamie Bock) Swope; grandchildren, Brandon Swope, Kurtis, Joseph and Faith Swope, Hailey, Alexis and Noah Swope, Liam and Donnie BL Swope ; great grandchildren: Abel and Riot Graybeal, Wesley Swope and Delilah Jane Susman; sister Barbara Swope Morford; many nieces, nephews and friends. He loved Robin Hynd of Madison and Faith Oakes of Adhtabula as if they were his own. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert & Marilyn Swope, wife Donna (nee: McCallister) Swope and son Donnie Swope. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, Aug 19, 2020 at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Home, 2726 Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio, with his brother-in-law, Rev James H. McCallister, officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Cemetery on Arcola Road in Madison. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at the funeral home.
