John J. Welsh

John J. Welsh of Chardon, OH, passed away on July 4, 2026. He was born December 16, 1947, in Braddock, PA to John and Marilou Welsh. John was married for fifty-two years to his wife, Coleen L. McDonough, who passed in 2023. He is survived by his son, Alexander M. Welsh of Cleveland; his sister, Judith Ann Butler (George) of North Huntingdon, PA; and many nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of the University of Dayton who went on to serve as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps, and earned an MBA from Cleveland State University in 1975. In his career, John started as an accountant with Arthur Anderson in Cleveland; moved on as an internal auditor at Republic Steel Services Group, later becoming Controller; and served as Chief Financial Officer of Republic Hogg Robinson in Boston. John was an avid sports fan who followed the stats of the Guardians through his last days and will be remembered fondly every time his family sits down to play cards. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in the narthex of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton with the Very Rev. James B. Morley as celebrant.
