John Edward Miller, Jr., age 78 of Hambden Twp. passed away March 11, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. Born April 10, 1944, in La Grange, IL to John E. & Helen (nee: Kurlyo) Miller Sr, he had been a longtime Cleveland area resident before moving to Hambden Twp. 7 years ago. John was a Senior Patent Attorney and former partner at Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP in Cleveland and was a member of the Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Assn. for many years. John enjoyed cooking, boating, snow skiing, snowmobiling, world traveling, vacationing at Kiawah Island, SC and home improvement projects. He was a longtime homeowner in Sunset Bay, NY on the banks of Chautauqua Lake, where he loved to sit on the shore with a campfire and Miller Lite and watch the sunset; but his absolute favorite passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. John is survived by his wife Judith (nee: Cagney, formerly Kralovic) Miller of Hambden Twp.; children Kerry Miller of Charleston, SC, Todd (Christine) Miller of Denver, CO, Craig (Mindy) Miller of Charlotte, NC, Kelly (Patrick) Manley of Charlotte, NC & Scott Miller of Cleveland; grandchildren Avery, Quinn & Austen Miller of Denver, Hayden & Seth Miller of Charlotte, & John Manley of Charlotte; brother Donald (Susan) Miller of Lake Oswego, OR; niece Elizabeth Miller and nephew Alex Miller; step-children Mark (Kathy) Charlton of Chardon, Bruce (Julie) Charlton of Jefferson, Leigh Charlton of Chardon & Georgia (Jake) Yanchar of Chardon; step-grandchildren: Jenni Leigh (Shane) Duncan, Isaiah (Allison) Charlton, Josh Charlton, Christian Charlton, Helena & Gordon Yanchar; step-great grandchildren: Clare, Jace, Kendra, Madison, Layla Charlton & Whitney Duncan. A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Chardon Christian Fellowship 401 S. Hambden Street, Chardon, OH with Pastor Wayne Sanders officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:30pm on Friday at The Lodge at Bass Lake 426 South Street, Chardon, OH. A private family burial will take place at Chautauqua Lake at a later date.
