John W. DeFilippo, a beloved husband, father, and mechanic, who passed away on March 1, 2026, in Willoughby, OH, following a brave four-year battle with health challenges. Born on April 17, 1967, in Euclid, OH, John lived a life filled with passion, resilience, and dedication to his family and community.
John was a much-respected mechanic, known for his skillful hands and kind heart. His education, beginning from high school and extending into some college courses, laid the foundation for his career but it was his innate ability to fix problems that truly defined him. John approached each challenge with a determined spirit, making friends and confidants within the world of mechanics.
In his personal life, he shared a profound bond with his beloved spouse, Dina DeCapua. The couple celebrated their love and commitment on November 19, 2000, in a ceremony that echoed their deep devotion to each other. Together, they built a life filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
John was a proud father to five children: Colby VanderMolen, Felicia DeCapua, Johnathen DeFilippo, Dezirayze DeFilippo, and Charles DeCapua. He poured his heart into raising them, sharing in their triumphs and supporting them through difficulties. John treasured the time spent with his children, especially as they worked together on “Frankenstein,” a project he embraced with enthusiasm and a creative spirit while bonding with his son.
He was also a loving sibling, having shared countless moments with his brothers and sisters: Paul, Daniel, Michael (Bozz), Vanessa B., Dawn, and Vanessa D. Each of them will miss John's laughter, guidance, and unwavering support.
John's legacy extends to his grandchildren. He was proud to watch Randi Williamson grow up and become who she is now. He will forever remain her best friend and she will choose to carry his crazy and caring ways through the rest of her life.
John is preceded in death by his loving parents, John (Jack) and Geraldine (nee: Myers) DeFilippo, whose nurturing spirits shaped the caring man he became. Their guidance and love were paramount in his life and still resonate through the hearts of those who knew him.
An avid NASCAR enthusiast, John found joy in every race, often sharing his excitement and knowledge with others. His love for automobiles transcended mere hobby; it was a passion that brought him closer to his family and friends alike. He is probably racing with Dale Earnhardt as you are reading this.
As we remember John W. DeFilippo, we celebrate a life imbued with love, strength, and resilience. His memory will forever live in the hearts of his family, a testament to a man who touched many lives and left an indelible mark on the world around him. You will forever and always be in our hearts pop. We love you to the moon and back.
