With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of George Ronald DeMore, who peacefully departed this life on July 14, 2026.
George was born on March 22, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Joseph and Margaret (nee Antenucci) DeMore. A graduate of Shaw High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1958 and later received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of North Texas.
After college, George began his career as a supervisor at Republic Steel in Warren, Ohio. In 1966, he joined Ohio Rubber Company in Willoughby, Ohio, as an industrial engineer. He transferred to Texas in 1972 with Ohio Rubber’s Orthane Division and, two years later, was promoted to General Manager of Orthane, a role he held until 1989. He later worked for Uniroyal Chemical Co. until his retirement in 2001 in Chandler, Texas.
George was active in many civic activities. He was President of the Mentor, Ohio Jaycees; President of the National Polyurethane Manufacturer’s Association; and President of the Chandler, Texas Lion’s Club.
He enjoyed community service, traveling, fishing, and attending sporting events. He was a member of the Chandler Church of Christ and, more recently, the Mentor Church of Christ.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janice Sissom DeMore; his sons, Ronald DeMore and David DeMore; his sister, Joyce Gibb; and his granddaughter, K’Lynn Dawn DeMore.
George is survived by his beloved fiancée, Ginger Gibb of Mentor, Ohio; his daughter, Linda (David) Adams of Flower Mound, Texas; his stepchildren, Renae Herndon of Amarillo, Texas, and Sandee Sissom and Robin Skelton of Denton, Texas; Jennifer Gibb and Jim Gibb of Mentor, Ohio; Laura (Eric) Hartog of Chardon, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
George’s legacy will live on in the many lives he touched through his generosity, kindness, quick wit, and genuine love for people. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like a friend. His humor, warmth, and easy way with others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 6:00 PM at Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes-Painesville, located at 1009 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH 44077. All are welcome to join in honoring George’s memory and celebrating a life so well lived.
