Gary W. Gunnoe, age 86 of Willoughby, passed away Nov. 19, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland surrounded by his children. Born December 2, 1935, in Van, WV, he had been a longtime area resident. He was married to Sharon (Buckles) for 37 years before her passing in 2003, and together they had nine children. Gary worked as a specialized machinist for GM before retiring. After his retirement, Gary worked at Wendy’s in Mentor as a greeter well into his 80’s where he made many close friends. Gary enjoyed horses, fishing, spending time with his children, and grandchildren, as well as telling stories about his life and childhood. He also loved watching old westerns with his favorite dogs, Milo and Duke, and was a huge fan of John Wayne and Roy Rogers. Survivors include his children: Matthew (Ivana) Gunnoe of FL, Melisa (James) Walker of Euclid, Nathan (Katie) Gunnoe of Chardon, Rebecca (Derek) Haffey of Painesville, Jennifer (Luiz) Vieira of TN, Daniel Gunnoe of Willoughby & Joseph (Sana) Gunnoe of FL, 21 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and several siblings including his sister Loretta who he was very close to. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his son, Paul W. Gunnoe, his son David W. Gunnoe, and his parents Reda and Sidney. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 27, from 3pm-6pm at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes 1009 Mentor Ave., Painesville, OH 44077. Funeral services will begin at 6 pm the funeral home. Monday, November 28th, a processional to Mentor Cemetery will leave the funeral home promptly at 10 am for those who would like to join the family for a graveside service.
