Frank Lawrence “Larry” Mzik
He was a self-made businessman, a passionate member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the Cleveland Free Flight Society, and Graphic Communications Union, a League Bowler, a husband, a grandpa, and a dad.
Frank Lawrence “Larry” Mzik, of Painesville, died of cancer on March 20th, at the age of 85, in Avon Lake, Ohio.
Larry was born August 6, 1932, in Cleveland, the only child of Dorothy Petranek Mzik and Frank J. Mzik. He was raised in Cleveland and graduated from Benedictine High School.
In 1952, he married Shirley Jean Vecchio of University Heights. They were married for 38 years and had four children. After a brief time in the Army, they raised their family in Willowick, and together ran their own business, Willowick Printing and Lithography. Larry and Shirley divorced in 1991, and Larry married Betty Jane Boehnke Nelson of Fairport Harbor.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents, Dorothy and Frank Mzik, his ex-wife Shirley, and his wife, Betty.
Larry is survived by his children James (Jim and Rhonda) of Avon Lake; John (Kellie) of Knoxville, TN; Thomas (Tom and Edie) of Chardon; and Autumn (Dan Huebner) of Willowick; stepdaughter Diane Hurley of Idaho; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 28th from 5-8PM at Potti Funeral Home, 1009 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 29th, 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Painesville, with burial following at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
