Darlene Gail Manninen

With profound sorrow and heartfelt reverence, we commemorate the life of Darlene Gail Manninen, née Garland, a cherished soul whose journey graced this world from April 14, 1944, to April 26, 2026. Born in the city of Cleveland, Ohio, Darlene's life was a testament to quiet strength and unwavering dedication, marked by enduring love and devoted service.

A proud high school graduate, Darlene entered the workforce with diligence and grace. She dedicated a significant chapter of her life as a secretary at Bailey Controls in Wickliffe, where her meticulous attention to detail and warmth forged connections that left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike. Her professional contributions were paralleled by a richness of character that illuminated every room she entered.

Darlene’s personal life was equally rich, as she found love and companionship in her husband, Norman Manninen, whom she married in 1995. Together, they navigated the tapestry of life’s joys and trials, their bond a steadfast beacon of mutual support. Family remained central to her existence; she shared a loving relationship with her brother, James Garland II, and cherished the presence of her nephew, James Garland III, whose lives were intertwined with hers in enduring affection.

Though the cold hand of loss claimed her mother Vivian Burnheimer Dunbar and father James Garland, as well as her sister Ruth Dinwiddie, Darlene's spirit remained unbroken, carrying forward the heritage of love and resilience imparted by her forebears. The legacy of these bonds, both living and passed, sustained her through the seasons and now binds us all in collective remembrance.

The community will gather to honor Darlene’s memory during a Memorial Service held at the Erieside Church On the Boulevard, located at 221 E 320th Street in Willowick, Ohio, on April 30, 2026. at 2:00 PM , friends and family will unite to celebrate a life well-lived, reflecting on moments of kindness, laughter, and grace that defined her every day.

Darlene Gail Manninen passed away peacefully in Mentor, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy framed by dignity, compassion, and enduring love. Her departure, though profoundly felt, invites us to embrace the memories she has left—a mosaic of warmth and sincerity that continues to inspire.

As we bid farewell to Darlene, we hold fast to the image of a woman who embodied quiet strength and enduring kindness—a beacon whose light will forever illuminate the hearts of those privileged to have known her. May her soul find eternal peace, and may those who mourn her loss find solace in the timeless bonds she forged.
