Clifford E. Martin, age 74 of Chardon passed away May 23, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born Feb. 9, 1947 in Cleveland to Clifford E and Anna (nee: Chappell) Martin, he had been a longtime area resident. Cliff was a Staff Sergeant serving with the Intelligence Unit of the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. During his time in the Air Force, Cliff married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Sherry (nee: Bedford), June 24, 1967 in Willoughby. After returning home, he went to CSU and earned his Bachelor and Masters in Business Administration. He worked for many years at Lincoln Electric after which he started with The Paquin Company and retired as the CEO/CFO. He recently received his 40-year pin from Willoughby Masonic Lodge #302 F&AM. He enjoyed tinkering with his 1949 Allis-Chalmers B-model tractor, rebuilding her from the ground up. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He and Sherry would travel anywhere to see them participate in their activities. Survivors include his wife of almost 54 years Sherry Martin of Chardon; children Michelle (Richard) Opgenorth of Mauston, WI, Clifford C. (Carly) Martin of Willoughby and Connie Bock of Brandenburg, KY; grandchildren Rickelle, Kelsey, Vincent, Jerry, Emma, Branden, Casandra, Rider & Meagan; great-granddaughter Xiva; siblings John (Renee) of Rome, Frank (Patty) of Mentor & Juanita Brown of Eastlake; longtime friend Ron Young of Willoughby. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nora-Ann Janke. A memorial service will be held at 7:30pm on Friday at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes (Located within DeJohn Funeral Home) 126 South Street, Chardon, OH. Friends and family may call from 5 to 7:30pm on Friday at the funeral home. Masks are requested.
