Christine Ann (nee Hammond) Reed, 81, of Concord Township OH, Born, August 12, 1944. beloved wife, grandmother, aunt, friend and mother to five children passed away on March 17, 2026 She was born to Bill and Grace Hammond, and moved to Willoughby, OH when she was nine years old. Christine attended Immaculate Conception Church in Willoughby and graduated from Willoughby South,, class of 1964. Christine would then spend the next year in North Carolina doing missionary work where she was very well liked by the nuns and loved teaching local families and children in need. After a year in missionary work, Christine returned to Willoughby and enrolled in nursing school where she met her dearest friend, Norma Wolf. They would have fantastic adventures together. Chris worked at Service Stamping in Willoughby for three years. On her commute, she pulled into a gas station and would meet her husband, Mark A. Reed and they would be married for 53 years until Mark passed on May 14, 2021. Chris was a devoted wife and mother to her five children and 20 grandchildren whom were her pride and joy. To help support her family, she became a wonderful babysitter, Chris also cleaned classrooms at St. Gabriel and found odd jobs to help support her family. Chris devoutly prayed the rosary daily She said that being a mother and passing on the Catholic Faith to her family was her best gift to her children. Chris also led the rosary at a local nursing home and distributed ice-cream to the patients, always taking time to listen, laugh and comfort everyone. Chris also cooked meals for the priests at St. Gabriel and supported the Right to Life her whole life.
Chris took special joy in making special meals for her family, she was a truly funny person. Her humor, joy and timing were impeccable. Strangers would just stop to listen to her tell a story. She was so warm and genuinely funny that people were just drawn to her to smile and laugh. Her children loved her immeasurably. All of her children had a very special, personal relationship with mom. Matt would call her "Ladyeeeeee" and Mom would just laugh! Matt would tell Mom about his day and Mom would enjoy it so much., Ann was Mom's primary caregiver and her constant companion. For my sister, we are all so grateful to you. Ann would always say, " I love you." Mom would respond, "I love you more," Ann would say, "I love you most,:" Mom would say: "I loved you first." and Ann would conclude, “I will always love you last." It was beautiful. Luke and Mom would talk frequently on the phone. Mom enjoyed his stories from work, his daily life and the kids Paul would call Mom too and just say ...."Ma....what are you doing Ma? I love you" and then talk to her for hours about life, family and work. Jen lives close by and would frequently bring meals over and pretend I was a good cook. . I think what each of us valued most is our time and conversations with mom. . We all talked to Mom almost every day and had the blessing of her laughter, wisdom and just the comfort and love of hearing her voice and cherishing her loving embrace. There was nothing in the world more wonderful than our mothers' love. Chris was preceded in death by her husband Mark Reed and her parents, Bill and Grace Hammond. Chris is survived by her children and grandchildren: Son, Matt Reed (Shelli). Grandchildren: Kailie Reed (Mat Los); Gabe Reed (Peyton Wells, fiance); Nathan Reed (Michelle Garcia, fiance); Daughter, Ann Reed; Daughter, Jen Reed; Son, Luke Reed, (Julie), Grandchildren: Billy, Luke, Jacob, Grace, Michael, Patrick, John, and James. Son, Paul Reed (Sue), Grandchildren: Jack, Olivia Remi, Ignatius, Nicholas, Calloway, Tucker and Johnny, Sister in law, Dona Shulz and many nieces, nephews and friends. We will never forget the love she brought to our lives.
