Charlene (nee: Pennell) Croson, age 56 of Mentor, passed away Sept. 28, 2022, at UH Ahuja Medical Center. Born Nov. 26, 1965, in Chardon Twp. to William and Margaret (nee: Matasic) Pennell, she had been a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Chardon High School Class of 1984. Charlene Pennell married Gary Croson on Sept. 6, 1997. She worked as a secretary for Fluid Line Products. Survivors include her husband Gary of Mentor; daughter Emily Croson of Mentor; parents Bill and Margaret Pennell of Hambden Twp; siblings Melissa (Mark) Schneider of Mentor, William (Stacey) Pennell Jr of Floresville, TX, Carrie (Victor Blalock) Pennell of Willow Springs, NC, Michael (Erin) Pennell of Hambden Twp, Richard (Erin) Pennell of Chester Twp. and Annie (Mason) Clark of Richmond Hill, GA; as well as 17 nieces and nephews and her many friends. Charlene and her Troup achieved the Girl Scout Gold Award. She could often be found in the kitchen baking kolachi (nut rolls) and cookies with her family. She has shared her love for 4-H with her daughter. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at 10am at The Church of St. Mary, 401 North Street, Chardon. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Homes 126 South Street, Chardon, OH (within DeJohn Funeral Home) and from 9 to 10am on Wednesday at the church. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
