Biagio “Blaise” L. Iacofano, Jr. age 82, of Painesville, passed away Nov 4, 2024, following an illness. Born Sept. 10, 1942, in Cleveland to Biagio L. and Rose (nee: Pezzente) Iacofano, Sr., he had been a longtime resident of Willoughby prior to moving to Painesville 20 years ago.
He was a proud 1961 graduate of Mayfield High School, where he played many sports and enjoyed time with lifelong friends. He then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. While serving he earned many honors including Outstanding Unit Award, Airmen of the Month for exemplary service, Small Arms Expert, and USAF Longevity Award.
He returned home to help run the family business Blaise Specialties, Inc. a distributing company where he could share his knowledge and love of wine to the east and west of Cleveland. Eventually along with his wife Linda, Blaise had operated the Fairport Liquor Store for 26 years.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 53 years and his children Gina (Anthony) Lang of Cuyahoga Falls, Christina (Donald) Foltz of Painesville Twp., Biagio L. Iacofano III and Angela (Richard Karlovec) Iacofano of Wickliffe; sister Ursula (Louis) Muttillo of Painesville, grandchildren Kyle, Aden & Kyra Lang; Philip, Christopher & Samantha Foltz. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Iacofano. He was a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and their children. You could always find him cuddling the little ones or on his knees with them and their toys.
Blaise has always been a huge Cleveland sports team fan, especially the Browns and Indians. Blaise truly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing a good round of bocce or many hands of pinochle early into the morning.
His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. He made everyone feel welcomed with his sincere smile and handshake whether to his home, a large family party or his second home the Fairport Harbor Liquor Store.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 11 at 10:30am at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine St, Willowick, OH 44095 with interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Sunday at the Potti & Marc F. Burr Funeral Home, 1009 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Services entrusted to the Potti & Marc F.
