Bernard J. Sitt

Bernard J. Sitt, lovingly known as Bernie, was born on September 30, 1952, in Cleveland, a city that shaped him and which he cherished throughout his life. He departed this world on October 30, 2025, in Beachwood, a long illness that he faced with the same strength and resilience that characterized his life.

Bernie devoted many of his working years to serving the community through the Cleveland Board of MRDD, where he lent his skills and compassion to the workshops. His commitment to bettering the lives of those around him was evident in everything he did, and he took great pride in contributing positively to the community.

Outside of his professional life, Bernie had a heart full of love for his family. He was particularly proud of the relationships he fostered and the way he supported and nurtured his loved ones. Bernie’s family remembers him as a dedicated brother, uncle, and friend, always there with a kind word or a helping hand.

He is survived by his beloved brother, Daniel (Linda) Sitkowski of Astoria, OR, his niece Renee Sitkowski of Astoria, OR, and his nephews Nick (Phy) Sitkowski of Seattle, WA, and Vince (Alissa) Sitkowski of Mentor. The bond he shared with his nieces and nephews spoke volumes about the love he had for his family, a love that will resonate in their hearts forever.

Preceding him in death were his dear parents, Bernard and Cecilia (nee: Bobal) Sitt, who instilled in him the values of kindness and service. Their influence can still be felt in the lives he touched and the impact he made on those who knew him.

Bernie’s life, characterized by his gentle spirit and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place, stands as a testament to a man who loved deeply and lived fully. He will be missed profoundly, and his legacy of compassion and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held.
