Bernard W. "Bernie" Urban, 92, of Mentor passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015. Born February 10, 1923 in Cleveland to Ann (Jacoby) and Joseph C. Urban. Bernie was a graduate of St Ignatius High School, after graduating, he enlisted in the Navy on February 5, 1943. Bernie was Cook Second Class on the USS Sacramento, a gunship and served in the Asiatic Pacific and American Areas. He was discharged in 1946. Bernard married Ann Lukacevic on September 7, 1949 in Cleveland. Mr. Urban was a Sales Manager and buyer for Gil Schwartz Dist. For 20 years. He also worked 8 years for Sealtest Foods Plant and was a Sales Manager and buyer for Canton and Akron and Cleveland. He served on the Mentor Board of Building and Zoning Appeals for several years. He was a member of the St. Bede Venerable Church in Mentor. He is survived by his wife Ann L. Urban of 65 years; daughter, Linda A. Urban of Mentor; son, Douglas (Denise Modic) Urban of Brunswick Hills,; grandsons, Andrew and Alex Urban; three nieces and four nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Helen Kriesen; and brothers, Ralph and Joseph Urban. Visitation will be held Friday 6 to 8 p.m. at the Potti Funeral Home, 1009 Mentor Ave. Painesville, Ohio 44077. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 25, 2015 at St. Bede Venerable Church, 9114 Lake Shore Blvd. Mentor, Ohio 44060. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
