Jeffrey C. Hughes, age 63, of Mentor passed away Feb. 16, 2015 at Manor Care of Willoughby Following a long and spirted battle with ALS. He was born Aug. 17, 1951 in Ashtabula. He graduated from Ashtabula Harbor High School in 1970. He became a proud member of the Ohio National Guard and Army Reserve. Always a craftsman, he entered an apprentice program to become a tool maker and subsequently Was employed at Astatic Corporation (Conneaut), Penco Tool (Ashtabula) Willoughby tool, Associated Enterprises (Painesville) now Meritec and Superior Manufacturing (Painesville). Jeff later became owner of Superior Manufacturing, a maker of rubber molds. Jeff enjoyed life, especially time with his friends. He was a devoted owner of English Cocker Spaniels. He was an avid woodworker, Sailor, and golfer. He was also a former member of the Madison Country Club. He is survived by his brothers Thomas (Carolyn) of Phoenix, Arizona, Dough of Madison, He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Mildred "Mid" (Thomas) Hughes Services will be Private.
