Helen (Kish) Steinback, 87, a lifetime Fairport Harbor resident, was received into heaven to be with our Lord Jesus on March 17, 2015. Helen was born April 14, 1927, in Millfield, Ohio to Andy and Esther Kish. She was an active member of the Hungarian Reformed Church and enjoyed helping the church with all their projects. She was known for her delicious cabbage rolls and belish. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her. Helen graduated from Fairport Harding High School in 1945. She was the first Mardi Gras Queen for the Village of Fairport. She was a member of the Fairport Historical Society, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Lorantfy Group of the Hungarian Reformed Church, FHS Band Boosters and McKinley School PTA . Mrs. Steinback was employed by the Diamond Alkali Company for many years as a key punch operator. She also worked for the Beacon Market, Fairport Public Library, Village Water Department and the Concord Diamond Shamrock facility. She married Russell Steinback on October 2, 1947 and was married for 45 years, until Rusty passed away on March 7, 1992. Survivors include her daughters, Meg (David) Zupan and Nan (Butch) Harless, Grandchildren, Daniel Zupan, Samantha Harless, Sarah Zupan, Russell Harless, Joe Zupan and Shannon Harless; Sister, Julia Lehto; Sisters-in-law, Juanita Cleary and Irene Kish; and many nieces, nephews, loving friends and special caregivers. Her parents and other siblings are deceased. Funeral services will be Monday, March 23, 2015, at 11:00 am at the Hungarian Reformed Church, 607 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor, OH. The Rt. Rev. Louis Medgyesi will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Fairport Harbor. Memorial contributions may be made in Helen's name to the Memorial Fund of the Hungarian Reformed Church in Fairport Harbor, or Hospice of the Western Reserve. Arrangements are being handled by The Potti Funeral Home in Fairport Harbor.
