Our History

Marc F. Burr is a 6th generation Funeral Director born and raised in Chardon. He knew from an early age that he wanted to spend his life serving those in his community at their time of greatest need. Growing up working in his family's business he witnessed firsthand the importance of a local, family owned and operated funeral home. He spent over 13 years serving the families of Geauga County with compassion and professionalism when they needed him the most. He learned many valuable lessons which have lead him to where he is today. Marc knows that FAMILY matters: his and yours. Family is the cornerstone of what makes the community he serves so wonderful. Marc and his wife, Ashley, live in the community full time. They have chosen to live and raise their family here. Marc is focused on providing a family-centric and community-based funeral service. The relationships he's created with so many of you in the community is something to be cherished. He looks forward to serving each and every family for many years to come.

  • Marc F. Burr

    Marc F. Burr, Funeral Director / Owner

    Marc F. Burr knew from an early age that he wanted to be a funeral director. Upon graduation from Chardon High School, where he played football, was in the symphonic and jazz bands and an integral part of the theater department, Marc attended Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. While there Marc was the starting offensive tackle, later center for the Gators and worked as a student technician for the college theater department. After earning a degree in Theater Production Marc enrolled at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. While there he received the Dodge Award for showing exemplary skill and ability in the field of embalming and restorative art. Upon returning home Marc quickly became involved in the community. He is a member of: Pilgrim Christian Church as well as a member of St. Mary Parish in Chardon with his wife and 2 sons; Village Lodge #274 F&AM, Burton-Middlefield Rotary (President 2015-2016), Painesville Rotary Club, Madison Son's of the American Legion Jay Wilson Post 112, Chardon VFW Auxiliary, Geauga Eagles Aerie #2261, Mentor Harbor Yachting Club and various car clubs. Marc is also active with the local schools where he coached football for 5 years. As his children have grown, Marc sponsors and coaches their baseball, soccer and flag football teams. Marc currently lives in Chardon with his wife Ashley, whom he married Nov. 5, 2011, and his children Warner Patrick Burr and Franklin (Franky) Joseph Burr. He enjoys his hobbies of wood turning, pen making, wine making & assisting on the Membership Committee at Mentor Harbor Yachting Club.

  • Ashley Burr

    Ashley Burr, Director of Marketing & Customer Relations

    Ashley graduated Summa Cum Laude from Youngstown State University in 2003 with a BSBA in Marketing Management. Upon graduation she began working for Matthews International as a Funeral Service Consultant and remained there for 11 years. In 2014 Ashley became a Regional Sales Director for Columbian Financial Group working alongside her father, Jerry. She is a licensed Life and Health insurance agent in Ohio. She married Marc F. Burr in 2011 and they reside in Chardon with their 2 sons, Warner and Franklin. The Burrs are parishioners of St. Mary Parish in Chardon where Warner is attending his first year of preschool.

  • Warner Patrick Burr

    Warner Patrick Burr, Associate

    Warner is the oldest son of Ashley and Marc F. Burr. He attends St. Mary Catholic School in Chardon and enjoys helping his father at the funeral home, playing football and soccer.

  • Franklin Joseph Burr

    Franklin Joseph Burr, Associate

    Franky is the youngest son of Ashley and Marc F. Burr. He attends St. Mary Catholic School in Chardon. He loves playing sports, especially flag football.

  • Gerald Warne

    Gerald Warne, Funeral Director

    Gerald "Jerry" has had a career in funeral service spanning 47 years. He has a BSBA in Business Administration from Malone College. In 1970 he graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. After serving 2 years in the United States Army, Jerry returned to Canton, OH where he began working in a funeral home where he remained for 9 years. He then became a Territory Manager with Batesville Casket Co. for 18 years. In 1996 Jerry joined Columbian Financial Group as a Regional Sales Director. He is now semi-retired and remains on as a Consultant. He is a licensed Life and Health Insurance agent for Ohio & Pennsylvania. He also holds the designation as a Certified Preplanning Consultant, CPC. Jerry is a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and the American Legion. He looks forward to working with his son-in-law, Marc. When he isn’t working he loves to spend as much time as possible with his grandsons, Warner and Franklin. He says being Pap Pap is the best job he’s ever had!
